Deck Building Rules

A deck is made of a number of cards (Agents, Resources, Upgrades and Secret Bases) and a Director.

About your Deck:

  • Decks may be made with any number of cards, but not less than 50 cards.
  • The number of cards is referred to as your Corporation Size.
  • Depending on your Corporation Size, you should check below more information about a viable strategy.
  • When a game begins, a few "Victory Cards" are added by the game to your deck. These are not counted toward your Corporation Size and are Hint Cards and Challenges that you must defeat.

About your Director:

  • You must pick an Agent from your collection as your Director.
  • This card is not counted toward the deck volume and the minimum of 50 cards.
  • The Director will use its Investigation, Tactical and Research capacities to draw and purchase cards.
  • The Director will also use its Director Perks (if any) to support your strategy.

Choosing a Corporation Size

There are 3 viable strategies regarding the number of cards into your deck.

Indie 'Black Market' Strategy (~ 60 cards)

These decks usually have less cards and aim at using cards from the Black Market left by other corporations. Most starting players may have a low volume of cards and then end up with this strategy. This allows them, in turn, to discover many new cards from other player collections.

A good Black Market strategy should be made by choice (and not just because you lack cards), have about 50 cards, and would use in the best case a Director with Perks related to this strategy (such as 'Recruiter' perks, 'Retainer' perks or the 'Black Market' Director Perk).

Small Corporation Strategy (~ 90 cards)

Suited for most players, this strategy involves a number of cards allowing you to possibly survive long enough without resorting to Black Market. However, it does not mean putting all your collection into a single deck will be efficient; instead it favors making a deck with a consistent strategy and a suitable volume to support it without resorting to 'random' Black Market cards.

It is the best way to explore your collection possibilities and synergies. The Indie Strategy will show other player cards more, the Corporation Strategy will make sure you explore your own collection synergies.

Large Corporation Strategy (~ 120+ cards)

These decks usually have a large number of cards. This may be the best fit for a 'powerful' Director, one with many high capacities. To be effective, however, your deck should have consistency in a determined strategy, and this is only possible if you have a great collection to pick the best cards from. For this reason this strategy is best suited for veteran players.
